RICHMOND AND MABEL STEEVES MEMORIAL FUND (2000)

Richmond (91) and Mabel (89) Steeves died within twenty-two days of each other just prior to their 65th Wedding Anniversary in 2000. It was their desire that a fund be established to give back to the community in which they were born, worked, and lived their lives. “Richie”, during his career, worked in and later ran the family plumbing business with his brother Art. Richie loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mabel (nee Thornton) trained as a hairdresser and later as a secretary. Mabel was active in the Kirk McColl Church, a great cook and well-known for her love of birds, especially calling the loons at their beloved Camp Talltrees on the St. Croix River. During their lifetime they were active volunteers in their community; by establishing this fund their giving continues.
